Standup comedy workshop

  • BarBichette 188 Rue Théodore Verhaegen Saint-Gilles, Bruxelles, 1060 Belgium (map)

What does a priest, a stegosaurus and a bottle of wine have in common? – nothing, but after this workshop you should be able to make it up!

Join us on 18 September to discover the craft of joke making, the secret ingredient of the HAHA, the force that is needed to make the right punchline!

The workshop will be run by Heli Pärna, a standup comedienne and the showrunner of Funny Women Brussels. It will be a mixture of playful exercises, writing and testing of ideas! Each participant will also have the opportunity to test their craft at the Funny Women Brussels open mic show on 22 September.

Heli would appreciate a contribution for the workshop! Recommended amount is 15 euros per person, but anything you can give will be great.

Everyone is welcome to join, whatever your age, gender, comedy skills!

The workshop is limited to maximum 10 people to make sure to register here as soon as possible.

About HELI PÄRNA, your workshop host

HELI PÄRNA is a standup comedian, actress, writer with a background in translations and literature. In Estonian (the beautiful little country where Heli grew up and a big topic in her shows), Helilooja means ‘Creator of Sound’, and Heli takes that purpose very serious-ly. She has been performing theatre and writing since she was a child tapping into the lineage of creative women in her family and with standup she has found the perfect combination for all of her creativity.

Heli is the showrunner of Funny Women Brussels and organises comedy writing work-shops as well as stand up events for employers who want to make their employees laugh (in the good way).

After almost two years of performing in different shows and cities, including Brussels, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Geneva and Tallinn, where she premiered her first one woman stand up show, The Adventures of the White Unicorn, during Tallinn Fringe Festival, she is now preparing for her first tour.

“The purpose of my workshop is not to teach you, but rather to guide you in the journey of tapping into the creativity and voice that is already within you. 😊 “
