Exhibition opening: “Crowning Glory: The Art of Afro Hair Stories”

  • BarBichette 188 Rue Théodore Verhaegen Saint-Gilles, Bruxelles, 1060 Belgium (map)

Join us for an unforgettable evening celebrating the incredible talent of self-taught artist Daphrose Marie Jean. Daphrose's work is a testament to her deep passion for African craft, rooted in a rich tapestry of influences including colors, movements, music, textures, patterns, rhythms, stories, roots, and encounters.

Daphrose’s Royals and Urbans collections are an ode to the magnificent hair craft & culture of the Black community which has been passed down from generation to generation, revealing complex stories of love and hate and carrying stories of resistance, abuse, roots, spirituality and pride.

Her guiding principles of diversity, multiculturality, representation, belonging, self-expression, affirmation, confidence, and the celebration of African and Afro-descendant cultures shine through in every brushstroke.
